In a post that I wrote earlier, I mentioned that I had trouble setting up a bridged interface, but eventually got help from a resource online (links coming soon!!!) and was able to get it up and running. One of the reasons that I came back to the problem with KVM and CentOS had to do with a really neat network analysis tool-set that I wanted to test out. All, I needed was a gigabit network tap. I couldn’t justify the need to spend hundreds of dollars for a gigabit network tap, but figured that I could use a bridged interface as a monitoring interface to capture traffic from my personal desktop to the router.

After checking some documentation online (note to self:Needs Links) I felt confident that I could make things work, and after setting up the bridged interface.

The tool is pretty awesome if you’re looking to get high level information on your network AND need to be able to drill down to the metadata.
You have to check out http://rocknsm.io/.

Install, config, and data collection for analysis can be done in under 1 day, there is decent documentation to help out.
